Rob,
Kevin (Speldhurst - near Barden Road) sent me this message:" I went for the "up to" 38mbps package with Sky, and I'm getting about 37.5 according to the white box. ". Sounds pretty reasonable.

Thanks Rob.
That is a very good record of meeting and Peter Cowan appears true to form by not responding to actions - I have still have heard nothing after my questions about Ashurst but it is only...
It is interesting that they only required 190 expressions of interest http://underriver.s3-website-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/2013%2001%2031%20Chronicle%20article%20re%20Open%20Day.pdf
That hardly...

I wondered because someone who had moved to Sky returned their white box. Perhaps I can get them to take it back - also Speldhurst located. L
Is the white box connection the same for Sky? L
Hi Rob,
Thanks for the useful video. I had believed I had set up a blanket subscription via the settings menu but now understand I have to select the threads individually. On the main Forum page I...
Hi Rob,
Like Kev, I am not seeing the regular email notifications even though I am set up to receive them.
L
Hi Rob, I have tracked down one of the inconsistencies. You have MAC B0487AFEE73A located near the Langton Exchange and with a really low download speed. This box is actually located in Stockland...
That was not the point I was making. Last night HS2 was discussed on Question Time and a lady raised the point that perhaps technology will be so different in 20 years that a high speed train might...
Rob, he makes an interesting point although a bit too late in the day. I imagine it would have been an interesting outcome if the public had been given a vote of which they would prefer. The...
I discovered today the new one is http://speedtest.btwholesale.com

Well I suppose it is "on demand" because I look at a library of films and select the one I would like to view and it seems to download quite quickly. L
Paul/Rob, I have discovered that Sky on Demand downloads a film or other items to the hard drive on my Sky Plus box and so buffering is not an issue and explains why the quality is so good. Lawrence
Hi Miles,
That's good news. I am interested to know what your speed settles down to.
Lawrence
Hi Miles,
I am really pleased top hear you are now getting similar to me (since we are about the same distance from the Exchange). The line-dropping sounds like an issue for calling PlusNet about....
Rob,
I would be happy to sit down with you some time to look at the inconsistencies and see what we are really learning. We have cases of people living close to each other but with very different...
Hi Rob,
This has some interesting inconsistencies in terms of speed in relation to distance - my result v Miles' result is an example. There must be an ISP factor as well, and perhaps other factors....
Hi Rob,
The BDUK initiative within our parish is the one that provides fibre to the cabinet for 3 of the 4 street cabinets in Langton Green. That is not 2Mbps but more like 70Mbps download for those...
A couple of months ago there was a meeting between several members of the Broadband Working Group and a senior director of BT, Peter Cowen. At the end of the meeting I raised the issue of Ashurst and...
Hi Giles, there is an ongoing initiative being led by TWBC to get DEFRA funding to upgrade the two Speldhurst BT street cabinets to fibre. A survey will be carried out in the next week to confirm...
Once it is set up I don't mind taking a look at what needs doing.
L
Rob,
This is a great start to seeing the broadband picture for the Parish.
L
Well BT is not doing it under its own roll-out programme, which we knew. We won't know who KCC has chosen for the BDUK/KCC Langton Exchange FTTC upgrade until KCC follows its due process of tendering...
Hi Miles,
You could compare notes with others with PlusNet. I know 2 in Upton Quarry who are now getting around 20Mbps. What is your monthly Plusnet broadband plan/payment. I will then ask what...
